We are currently looking toward expanding our team anｄ have started accepting job applications for mid to long-term employment in various positions around Nui.

First anｄ foremost, our fundamental philosophy at Backpackers’ Japan is “Beyond all Borders”.

Simply put, this means that at our hostels, we strive to create spaces in which people from all walks of life anｄ demographics can comfortably spend their time without worrying about their differences.

We strive to provide this through our accommodation, our bar, kitchen & lounges, where both our staying guests anｄ our domestic visitors alike can enjoy good food, drink & music.

At Nui, more than half of our staying guests are foreigners from all over the world, who on average, stay for 4 nights at a time, with approximately 1000 guests staying per month.

We are looking for someone who can provide a professional standard of hospitality service, with an open anｄ positive approach, so that each anｄ every one of our guests can instantly feel comfort able anｄ welcome throughout their duration of their stay.

【　Positions & Roles　】

Since Nui comprises not only of hostel accommodation, but also of a busy café, bar & lounge, many of the positions available require flexibility between each section, with cooperation anｄ teamwork with one another a fundamental necessity of the operation of Nui.

■Maintenance – Roles include: daily extensive cleaning of each guest room, each toilet  each shower room, ground floor bar anｄ lounge, anｄ 6^th floor common area. Since accommodation is a very important part of Nui, a high standard of maintenance duties are expected. Maintenance is performed by a team of 3-4 people daily, anｄ requires a strong sense of teamwork.

■Reception – Roles include: Checking in guests, maintenance of our guest’s stored luggage, general tourism information support, answering the telephone, reservation maintenance, anｄ lounge support. There is a lot to remember anｄ there is a lot of responsibility, however it provides the most amount of communication with guests.

Requirement: Advanced spoken anｄ written English, proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a plus.

■Barista – Roles include: Serving coffee & breakfast from 8:00 till 18:00, not only to our staying guests but to our walk-in visitors as well. Providing extensive information about the coffee being served.

Requirements: Experience as a barista using an espresso machine.

■Bar Tender – Roles include: professional service of beverages between 18:00 till 25:00, working the till, taking orders, managing the music, lighting anｄ general atmosphere of the bar & lounge. It is the bar tenders responsibility to direct the flow of the evening service anｄ  therefore there is a sense of responsibility in keeping a & fun environment.

Requirements: No experience needed except for an interest in the service of beverages.

■Kitchen  – Roles include: Preparation for dinner service, cooking at dinner service. Those working in the kitchen have the opportunity of creating new seasonal menus.

【　General Information　】

■State of Employment – Part-time employment with the prospect of moving into full-time employment.

■Location – Nui. HOSTEL & BAR LOUNGE

■Hourly wage – 950 yen (910 yen during training period), prospect of raise anｄ oｒ a fixed salary.

■Work System – Shift system, either morning oｒ evening shifts.

■W king Hours – 7:00-16:00 / 9:00-18:00 / 10:00-18:00 / 17:00-close

■Additional Expenses – transport expenses provided, social insurance provided for part time employees.
